WOMEN'S MINISTRY

Ministry Leader: JANET BRIDGES JOHNSON

Janet JohnsonHi, I'm Janet Johnson and I am the Women's Ministry leader. You could say I'm a hometown girl with a life full of big world experiences.  I was born and raised in El Campo, Texas, graduated from Abilene Christian University and then taught school and coached basketball for sixteen years.  I completed a Master's in education from Texas A&M Kingsville.  I changed professions in the early 90's and became a surgical nurse.

I married the love of my life in 2000, a gentleman named Steve Johnson, and we lived in Calgary. Alberta.  Steve was a professional educator.  We were members of the Calgary Church of Christ and served as the children's ministry leaders.  While there, I also taught classes and developed ministry projects for women, and this is where my love for women's ministry began.

My life has been marked with immense joy and tragic sorrow.  After the sudden death of my husband, I decided to move back to El Campo in 2006.  It was then that I came to know in even deeper ways that "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).  Serving others for the Lord gives me great joy and that is how I came to be the Women's Ministry Leader for El Campo Church of Christ.

The Women's Ministry includes specially designed Bible classes and inspirational events for women.  We have had a "Hee Haw Hoedown," a "Hodge Podge" talent show, "A Texas Tea, Canadian Style," and an "Africian Safari" just to name a few.  Through special events and classes we have been blessed with stronger faith and friendships.  We have had tons of fun, lots of laughter, and given God praise through it all.

Hobbies I enjoy include deer hunting, flower gardening, travel and shopping at garage sales, flea markets and second time around shops.

I can't wait to meet you!

Janet
